The Dive Against Debris course is designed to equip divers with the knowledge and skills to activate their "inner citizen scientist." It transforms a regular fun dive into a mission to protect the ocean by safely removing marine debris and reporting the data to a global database.

What You Will Learn?

During this specialty course, you will focus on four key areas:

• Marine Debris Identification: Understand what marine debris is, where it comes from, and the damage it causes to marine life and ecosystems.
• Survey Planning: Learn how to establish a survey site, determine frequency, and choose the right equipment (mesh bags, shears, gloves).
• Safe Removal Techniques: Master the skills to remove trash withou damaging the reef or yourself (e.g., buoyancy control, handling sharp objects, and knowing what to leave behind).
• Reporting Data: Learn the steps to record, weigh, and report your findings to the PADI AWARE global database, which helps scientists and policymakers create long-term solutions.

This course is designed to introduce divers to the biology, behavior, and conservation challenges facing the world’s most majestic rays. In Indonesia, you will focus specifically on the Reef Manta Rays resident in the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA).
The Mola Mola is the heaviest bony fish in the world and a highlight for divers in Bali from June to October. This course focuses on the "Gentle Giant of the Depths" and how to interact with them responsibly as they rise from the deep to be cleaned.

• Anatomy & Biology: Understand the difference between Reef Mantas and Giant Oceanic Mantas, and molamola’s unique physiology.
• Behavioral Patterns: Learn about feeding strategies, social interactions, and mating patterns.
• Threats & Protection: Discuss the impact of overfishing, plastic pollution, and unsustainable tourism.
• Safe Encounter Protocols: Master the "Passive Interaction" techniques.
• Citizen Science: How to report sightings to local research projects
